It’s hard to believe it’s the beginning of a fresh new year! December was such a blur; I swear I was making pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving dessert just the other day!
Sadly, this New Years Eve, in all the festive flitting around, hiding leftover goodies from our potluck from our curious pups before cramming into cabs to go to a winery NYE party, I left my phone (read: camera) on my kitchen window sill! So, I spent the evening sneaking photos on unattended cameras and smartphones.
I did, however, take a picture days prior to 12/31, in Mitchell, South Dakota, where my husband’s family resides. It was a cold, quiet afternoon out on Lake Mitchell, where freshly fallen snow had covered the frozen lake. It was one of those winter days where there was no wind, so everything was loudly quiet. You could hear the faint grumble of tires making fresh tracks in the snow, blocks away. It was perfect.
